The Difference Between ATX & ITX Size of the Assembled Computer Motherboard

Categories

At present, the choice of office and commercial computers is nothing more than assembling desktop computers and portable notebook computers.
The chassis for assembling the desktop computer is relatively large and powerful, and it can be connected to a GPU-independent graphics card.

Portable notebook computers are relatively low power consumption, small and compact without taking up space, and easy to carry. They are one of the preferred computers for people who travel frequently.

Most notebook computers are integrated by manufacturers, it is relatively difficult for customers to add modules. For commercial or home customers, the computers they require do not need to be moved frequently, and the price of assembling desktop computers with the same configuration is relatively low and can be integrated. It has the advantage of a high degree and is the first choice for commercial or household use.

A desktop computer is composed of a motherboard, CPU, memory, hard disk, power supply, and chassis. The choice of the motherboard largely determines the configuration trend of the entire computer. At present, motherboards are mainly divided into the following types by size:

Large board: ATX, Mini ATX, XL-ATX, non-standard E-ATX;
Small board: MATX, μATX, FlexATX;
Mini board: ITX (including Thin-ITX);
Extra Large Board: Standard E-ATX, EE-ATX, HPTX, WTX.

For the dimensions of the above motherboards: Different motherboards are mainly different in version size, configuration function, and scope of application. sizes:

ITX is 170mm170mm, M-ATX is 244mm244mm, ATX is 305mm244mm, E-ATX is 305mm330mm;

In terms of configuration functions, according to the percentage of use, many customers choose ATX or ITX motherboards when assembling computers, and ITX has fewer functions than ATX; in terms of scope of application, ITX is a mini host, and ATX is a mainstream host. Here are the specific instructions:

  • ATX is the current mainstream installed version. The size of the version is 305mm*244mm. It is positioned in the middle and high end. It can meet the needs of mainstream users in terms of the type, quantity and power supply specifications of expansion slots. It is better in terms of scalability and heat dissipation. Generally, three PCI-E slots are configured to support dual-channel 4 memory and two M.2 slots.

  • The ITX version is a version chosen by niche players or mini-host users. The size of the version is 170mm*170mm. The positioning needs to be judged according to the brand and series (high and low), and the type, quantity, and power supply specifications are relatively simplified compared to ATX.
